Kenneth has a small beef farm and helps on his son’s farm. He also is the owner of Horst Ag Supply which is a dealer for Balanced Biologics, Inc., a fertilizer and mineral company. After experiencing the health benefits in his livestock, he now helps local farms with soil balancing and remineralization. He grew up on a produce farm in Lancaster PA. At a young age he learned some of the aspects of home delivery and good service as he helped to deliver produce to individuals in his neighborhood. He started dairy farming in 1985 and moved to NY in 1990. He operated a dairy farm till 2020. He has now transitioned the farm to his son. He and his wife Lillian have 2 children and 12 grandchildren. He has been passionate about growing high quality food for the local community and providing excellent service to his costumers. He hopes that the local community can also experience the same health benefits he has seen on his farm.

At Horst Ag Supply, we don't sell generic blends; we provide a complete, custom solution based on your farm's unique needs. Our system relies on two proven product lines: 1. Restora Life Mineral Programs Goal: Achieve Total Nutrient Balance in your soil. We use advanced soil analysis to prescribe the exact mineral ratios necessary to eliminate yield-limiting factors, improving both crop quality and overall plant health. 2. Balanced Biologics Goal: Unleash the full potential of your soil. Our biological products wake up your soil's natural microbial ecosystem, unlocking tied-up nutrients and dramatically improving soil structure, water retention, and fertilizer efficiency.

Farm Tested, Farmer Approved:

We have been grass fed dairy for a few years but it seems it had a lot of weeds and cows took a lot of ground to fill up, after using your balanced soil methods with Soil Maximizer the cows took longer to cross those pastures and produced more milk in those areas we treated. We also so a huge reduction in weeds on those paddocks.

Kevin W.

Owner,

We have been on Dairy Maximizer since it came out and we are super impressed with its many benefits. Cleaner shiny coats, faster milking speed, lower SCC, high quality dense milk, and improved digestion. Since using this product we have had very little fresh cow problems and our breeding has really improved. It seems to be all the little things that it does that makes it so profitable.

Electrical Signals in Plants, Soil Fungi, and Soil Health

Referencing Research by James Tompkins, PhD (Institute for Creation Research)

James Tompkins, PhD, has conducted research highlighting how plants use subtle electrical signals to communicate stress, nutrient needs, and environmental changes. His work at the Institute for Creation Research shows that these electrical pulses move through plant tissues much like an internal communication network.
Below the soil surface, fungi — especially mycorrhizal fungi — play a crucial role in receiving, transmitting, and responding to these signals. I have long called fungi the “World Wide Web of the soil,” because they create vast underground networks connecting plant roots, sharing nutrients, and supporting plant health.

High pH Soils and Fungal Decline

One critical factor affecting this underground communication system is soil pH. High pH soils significantly reduce or even eliminate beneficial fungi from the soil profile. When fungal populations collapse, the electrical and nutrient communication system between plants and soil breaks down. This limits nutrient availability, decreases plant resilience, and disrupts the natural balance of the soil ecosystem.

Why This Matters
• Healthy fungi amplify electrical signaling and nutrient exchange.
• High pH soils weaken or destroy fungal networks.
• Without fungi, plants lose access to the “soil internet” that supports growth and stress tolerance.
Maintaining proper soil balance — including managing pH — is essential for preserving the living communication network that supports crop performance and long-term soil health.

Fermatrace

FermaTrace - Quality makes the difference -
FermaTrace is a top tier silage inoculant. FermaTrace is based on the clay we mine.

FermaTrace utilizes the dust of the clay so it is a very concentrated form. FermaTrace is a good management tool to reduce loss of protein and energy that can be lost through improper fermentation.  FermaTrace supplies the necessary bacteria to lower pH in forages at fermentation. FermaTrace allows baling at up to 30% moisture which can help prevent leaf loss and weather damage

SiloSolve® FC (Fungal Control)

Protect Your Investment With SiloSolve
® FC
Heating of silage largely due to the growth of yeast and mold is problematic for feed out. Certain molds produce
harmful mycotoxins which may compromise production & health of animals. Another challenge could be feed
shortage, forcing farmers to initiate feed out well in advance of the optimum 90 days fermentation. This is
problematic becuase it will not allow the silage to reach a stable stage. The risk of heating & loss of valuable
nutrients may jeopardize milk production and could lead to a severe economic impact.
BENEFITS
• Excellent fermentation and aerobic stability
obtained even at early feed out.
• Fast growing and competitive lactic acid
bacteria that dominate and control the
farmentation.
• Oxygen scavenging ability.
